Chiropractor (DC)
Dr. Brookhuis’ passion for helping her patients return to their activities is rooted in her lifelong love of athletics. Born and raised in Toronto, she competed in a wide variety of competitive sports including softball and hockey. Through sports, Dr. Brookhuis developed the ability to get the most out of herself and others and developed an appreciation for the value of continued self-improvement.
Dr. Brookhuis completed a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University. During her time at McGill, Dr. Brookhuis competed for Team Quebec and Team Canada for softball, and her student-athlete lifestyle is what introduced her to chiropractic.
Upon graduation, Dr. Brookhuis returned home to Toronto to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic, Magna Cum Laude, from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. During her internship year she had the privilege of doing internships at St. Michael’s Hospital and Sherbourne Health Centre, which allowed her to see and treat a variety of complex and fascinating cases under the supervision of both clinical sciences and sports chiropractors. Additionally, Dr. Brookhuis received her certification in contemporary medical acupuncture from McMaster University.
Dr. Brookhuis takes a comprehensive and individualized approach to all of her patients and uses a variety of techniques, modalities, and rehabilitation to help her patients reach their goals. Her treatment plans are evidence-based and focus on addressing the root problem of her patients’ complaints.
In her spare time, Dr. Brookhuis enjoys playing hockey, softball, ultimate frisbee, and going to spin class. She also loves to read and cannot get enough time with her pets.
