Chiropractor (DC)
Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit graduated from CMCC in 2003 and has enjoyed working as both a chiropractor and Pilates instructor in midtown Toronto. Dr. Darlene offers a unique combination chiropractic and pilates.
Certified through both Body Harmonics Pilates and Stott Pilates, Dr. Darlene teaches matwork, reformer, chair, cadillac to private clients and in classes. Dr. Darlene is also a certified yoga instructor and Garuda instructor. She combines various exercise methods and rehabilitation principles into Therapeutic Pilates. Therapeutic pilates is beneficial for people overcoming injuries or managing chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, scoliosis and arthritis, as well as pre-natal/post-natal care. She works with a range of athletes from professional NHL players to recreational athletes.
Additional certification/education includes Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster, and Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture from CMCC, Active Release Technique and other myofascial techniques, SpiderTech kinesotape, orthotic therapy, and most recently completion of Independent Medical Exam certification and American Medical Association Guide for Impairment Ratings.
At the corporate level, Dr. Darlene runs the pilates program at the Hospital for Sick Kids. She is also a volunteer for the Industrial Accident Prevention Association providing information on musculoskeletal injuries to the corporate world.
