Howard
Chen
Physician (MD)
Dr. Howard Chen completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at McMaster University, and the Diploma in Sports Medicine Exam from the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine. Dr. Chen received his Family Medicine training at the University of British Columbia, and earned his MD at Dalhousie University.
He has completed the Medical Acupuncture Program for Health Professionals and the Acupuncture for Sports Injuries Program at McMaster University. In addition, he holds acupuncture certificates from the University of Alberta and the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.
Dr. Chen holds an academic appointment with the University of Toronto and is a clinical instructor/lecturer in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, at Women’s College Hospital and Toronto East General Hospital. He has consulted for the York University Dance and Athletics, Humber College Athletics and McMaster Athletics programs.
Dr. Chen has covered many sporting teams and events including the National Figure Skating Championships, the World Road Cycling Championships, the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships and Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. He is a physician for the Toronto Rock professional lacrosse team, and Rogers Cup Canadian Open tennis tournament.
