Jamie is a Functional Movement-based Physiotherapist who incorporates Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Neurokinetic Therapy, SFMA, Anatomy in Motion and other functional assessment systems to pinpoint the cause of dysfunction and devise a global, individualized treatment plan. Her treatment sessions integrate soft tissue work, repair of motor pattern dysfunction through exercise prescription, contemporary medical electro-acupuncture, manual therapy, performance taping, and functional movement techniques. Jamie has experience treating a wide variety of sports injuries, pain syndromes, peripheral neurological dysfunction, pre and post-surgical conditions, and elite athletes, dancers and musicians. Her goals lie in providing preventative and performance care to optimize athletic and performance ability. She has prior experience with English Premiership Rugby, Rugby Ontario and with the Marlies’ AAA Midget Team. Jamie is the co-owner of Shift Bodywork & Performance Care, located at Dundas and Carlaw in Leslieville, Toronto. She is a Clinical Instructor for The University of Toronto and University of Western Ontario’s MScPT programs, and for Rhode Island’s DPT program. She also runs clinical reasoning sessions within the U of T MScPT program. She is a graduate of Leeds Metropolitan University’s MScPT and UWO’s BA Kinesiology programs and is constantly seeking continuing education opportunities to enhance the quality of care she provides. In her spare time, Jamie pursues a variety of sports interests. She competed for many years on the A-level equestrian circuit, and is an avid runner, having completed her first half-marathon in 2001. Her other sports interests include Crossfit, basketball, rugby, swimming and she is a certified level 1 CSIA ski instructor.
