As a practicing Orthopaedic Surgeon of more than 30 years and with over 12 years of physician executive leadership, Jeff has a very real appreciation of the the holistic side of medicine, focusing on the patient as a whole. He has always encouraged his patients to seek Alternative & Complementary care, as appropriate.
In his role as a StuderGroup physician coach, Jeff works with physicians, medical staff leaders, nursing staff, support staff and healthcare executives across the country to “connect the dots” of the positive patient experience to good clinical outcomes. He shares his passion for servant leadership and a commitment to creating a positive collaborative healthcare environment, always maintaining the focus on the patients and engaging them as accountable and true partners in their own care.
Jeff trained in South Africa, Israel and Canada and practiced as a Board Certified Orthopaedic & Hand Surgeon in Thunder Bay and Burlington, Ontario before moving to the USA in 1990. After completing his MBA at Kent State University in 2000, Jeff served as a Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) for 12 years, first at one, and then at two, local community hospitals, both of which subsequently joined a larger healthcare System in Northeast Ohio.
He has coauthored a number of books, serves as an Independent Medical Examiner and is a licensed and instrument-rated private pilot. His flying experience has taught him the value of enhanced communications and the use of checklists for safety – lessons that healthcare might well learn from the world of aviation.
Jeff lives in Hudson, Ohio where he maintains a small, solo medical orthopedics and acupuncture practice. He also serves as a physician coach with the StuderGroup, while maintaining his medical and acupuncture practice and teaching Marketing Management in the Kent State University Healthcare MBA Program.
Jeff is happily married to his wife and best friend, Cher, and has 3 adult children – a son, a daughter and a stepdaughter. He is a dog-lover and maintains a little balance in life by flying the open skies (keeping the right side up) and pampering their two toy-poodles, who have him convinced that they are really humans with 4 legs!
Jeff's Medical Acupuncture practice at Holistic Points focuses on a variety of conditions and injuries, involving the musculoskeletal and nervous system, as well as migraines, smoking and addiction problems, peri-menopausal, pregnancy and infertility related issues and mood disorders.
