Dr. Alexandra Tarkowski holds a Bachelor degree in Health Sciences from McMaster University and is a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, obtaining Cum Laude and Clinic Honours distinctions. She holds a certificate in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University, and is also a certified Active Release Techniques (ART®) provider. Dr. Alexandra thrives working in an interdisciplinary setting. Dr. Alexandra uses an integrated model of functional and manual therapy, which focuses on incorporating the latest evidence based practices in manual medicine and rehabilitation. This includes techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue therapy including ART ®, acupuncture, rehabilitation exercises, electro-modalities, and patient education. Her goal is to identify the source of the problem and develop an individualized treatment plan. Dr. Alexandra’s main objective is to get patients as active, functional and pain free as soon as possible. Dr. Alexandra’s experience ranges from treating sports injuries (specifically running, cycling and swimming injuries) to having worked with various workplaces including General Mills Canada and The Globe and Mail. Her extensive experience ranges from developing work specific musculoskeletal disorder prevention programs to custom corporate wellness programs. Dr. Alexandra’s experience allows her to excel in managing repetitive strain injuries and sports injuries, as well as educating about ergonomics and healthy posture. Dr. Alexandra’s interests include leading an active lifestyle with her family. This includes hiking, cycling, running, photography as well as healthy and nutritious cooking!
